How to Learn About Nutrition


In a world where our health care systems are over burdened with the sick, how to learn about nutrition shouldn’t really be much of a question, but it is.  You would think that there would be more emphasis on nutrition education now a days, but as a teacher who has taught Healthy Living courses, I can tell you that this is not the case.  Nutrition is a very small part of the curriculum for students in middle school, and most high school students will learn very little about nutrition as well.  So this means that most of us have a lot to learn when it comes to nutrition, and this post suggests some different ways you can fit super hero nutrition education into your life.

The 30 day Challenge

For this challenge you should read or listen for 10 to 30 mins per day, and write down at least one tip or idea from each session.  I like to use Evernote to take down notes on my phone.

How to Learn about Nutrition? Start Reading!

Actual books: pick one up at the local library for free,, or the local used book store if you have still have one!

Digital books: Also, available to rent from your library using the Overdrive app, or for sale again at

Blogs: Are a great way to find a variety of authors, and it is very easy to learn about nutrition from a variety of perspectives this way. I enjoy personally!

Audio Books: Great for the commute to work, and for long runs.  Checkout or for many great nutrition audio books that will help you on your quest to learn about nutrition. I recommend ‘The Zone Diet’ as the most important audio book you could listen too!

Podcasts: The free version of audiobooks, but can be hit or miss.  I enjoy many different types of podcasts and highly recommend them to help you learn about anything! I recommend Super Nutrition Academy.

Youtube: A great place to find step by step recipes, or diet explanations.

Documentaries: Usually entertaining and educational, watching a few of the best could change your life.  There is no better place to find the documentaries then on

Learn about Nutrition Now!

Start small and don’t get overwhelmed, but the absolute most important part is that you actually do get started.  Please book mark this resource on ‘How to Learn About Nutrition.’ When I was training for football our strength and conditioning coach was constantly educating us on nutrition, because he new it was just as important as a good workout.  So, please use these means of education to keep you expanding your knowledge.
