My Struggles with Water

I’ve been trying to use the Britia water filter system, and often failing because of the time it takes to fill up the jug, filter the water, and then pore the water into my water bottle.  So, I know that an reverse osmosis water filter is something that I need to pick-up.  I’m very dedicated to drinking a lot of water, and it just makes sense that I’d properly filtered my water.  In fact drinking enough water everyday is my most recommended healthy habit.

The Culligan EZ-Change Filter system

  • This filter connects below your sink removing chlorine, harmful particulates, and unwanted odours and tastes.
  • As the name suggests it is easy to change the filters by simply twisting it off.
  • It will filter up to 3000 gallons of water.
  • This Culligan water filter is far more affordable then the other suggested water filters.
  • However it is not a reverse osmosis water filter.

Reviewers share that installation of the product is simple and straight forward, but suggest the installation casing is made from cheap nylon.  So would be a good idea to head to your local hardware store and pick out something of higher quality.  Most reviewers suggest the filter does a great job of improving the taste of water, but several folks have had problems with leaks.  This is an affordable option if on a budget, but remember even a slow leak in a water filter could cause a lot of damage to your home. For this reason I give this product a pass.

iSpring 75GPD Reverse Osmosis Water Filter (5-Stage)

  • Little to no noise
  • Certified 75 GDP reverse osmosis membrane
  • Steel Storage tank
  • Includes a air gap free and noise free faucet

Some reviewers have written that this iSpring product, just like the much cheaper Culligan filter does improve the taste of water.  However, most people leaving poor reviews suggested that while it does a decent job filtering the water the were expecting more.  The big positive with the iSpring is their are a lot less reports of leaking.  Find more product details here.

  • Quiet
  • 5 Stages of filtration
  • Less instances of leaking

The Tap Master Reverse Osmosis Filter (7 stage)

  • Faster flow rate thanks to the larger fittings and tubing included.
  • This system actually pH balances the water which helps improve taste further
  • Advance filtration removes 98 percent of chemicals and particulates
  • 7 stages of filtration
  • 5 year limited warranty.

Most reviewers share that the instructions are very detailed, and insist that you don’t need a plumbing background to install this R/O System. However, some point out that a completely plastic product should not cost this much! If installation is a worry, there are many installation videos on Youtube to help with installation like the one below.  Once you’re finished watching, find more details about this product here.

Comparison

Your budget is really what is going to determine which of these reverse osmosis systems you are going to purchase.  The Culligan is only $40 (Not actually an R/O System), the iSpring is $175, and the Tap Master is at least $250.  When installing something that could flood your kitchen I tend to go with quality or nothing.  In addition the Tap Master comes with a 5 year limited warranty, and the iSpring comes with a 30 day money policy and a one year limited warranty.  Personally, I’m frugal and like the 30 day return policy on the iSpring.  So why not purchase it at a discounted price here.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading this quick overview of reverse Osmosis filtration systems. Remember to make sure you are drinking enough water, it is one of the easiest and best things I have done for my health.  Until next time stay geeky and stay healthy.
